| Takes a cornet mouthpiece
Kenton: I believe we may have the Ludwig "trumpet" mis marked. Compare it with this horn
Pryorphone: On the other hand, WHICH size cornet mouthpiece? The old, short mouthpiece is not the same as a modern long one. If it is a modern [cornet] one, I can imagine an older (or Euro) trumpet size fitting, also. If it is an old, short size, then there is no doubt.
I have seen the same thing happen on eBay; people calling pre-Conn Ltd (pre-1915) trumpets cornet (which ARE trumpets; they had distinct cornet styles) just because they can be played with a modern dize cornet mouthpiece.
